The plastics industry is committed to its role as an environmental steward. Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) was first developed in 2002 to prevent the release of resin pellets into the environment. OCS provides the resources and tools to help those who make, ship, and use plastic pellets to keep them in their place and out of the natural environment. The American Chemistry Council (ACC) and Society of the Plastics Industry actively promote the program to recruit new participants each year. The California Environmental Protection Agency recognizes OCS as an important step in helping keep plastics out of the environment.
